Do not stare an angry dog in the eyes and do not run away.
Curl up in a ball and cover your neck with your hands. They will lose interest and leave.

Get out of the elephant's line of vision.
Hide behind a tree, if possible.
Keep zig-zagging from tree to tree if it still shows interest in you.
