HOLIDAY IMMUNISATIONS

Always check with your GP Practice / Health Centre which immunisations your require for your chosen destination.

The immunity given by vaccinations takes time ... sometimes several weeks are required to get full protection. It is best to plan your immunisation schedule 6 - 8 weeks before you depart.

Keep inoculations up-to-date.

FOR THE NEEDLE NERVOUS
To ease the pain of an injection:

  • Press your thumb where the injection will be given until you feel resistance.  Hold it for 10 seconds.

This works by stimulating large sensory fibres that help to inhibit smaller pain fibres in the same area triggered by the sharp stimulus - i.e.: the needle.
